About the Author
Sanjula Sharma is a journalist by profession and a writer by choice.
- She did her schooling and graduation from Darjeeling. She has a Master's degree in English literature from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
- Sanjula started her career in journalism with The Telegraph and has written extensively for national dailies like The Hindustan Times, Times of India, Pioneer and Arab Times in Kuwait.
- She has published five books of poetry and two anthologies of short stories. Her widely reviewed book of poems, A Fistful of Sky, has a vast spectrum of themes and was launched in August, 2021. Another recent book, Once Upon a Page, is a collection of short stories based in Kuwait and India and has been released as a Kindle edition on Amazon. The Temple, a slim volume of 50 poetic verses (in Rubaiyat form) that encapsulates her spiritual vision, was published in October, 2022. Her latest literary endeavor is Heartstrings, an anthology of prose and poetry involving authors and poets from India and overseas.
- The writer has published her work in various anthologies, magazines and journals like the IIC Quarterly, Kuwait This Month, Femina, Outlook, Journal of the Poetry Society (India), Seventh Quarry (Indian Edition), Anthology of Contemporary Indian Poets, Muse India, Lapis Lazuli, Contemporary Vibes etc.
- Sanjula worked with All India Management Association (AIMA), Delhi for 7 years as a consultant editor.
- She made forays into TV journalism when she worked as scriptwriter and program controller with Zee TV. She has recently written a script for a feel-good, family oriented musical film.
- The writer is the founder of Happy Minds, a creative platform that conducts creative writing workshops for children and young adults at India Habitat Centre, Delnet, Pathways School and other learning centres in the capital. These workshops are based on a holistic approach to writing and enhancing literary capabilities across all ages. Sanjula has been invited to various literary events organized by schools, University of Delhi and the Asian Literary Society in the capacity of a judge.
- She is an active member of the Poetry Society (India) and Indian Women's Press Corps (IWPC). She co-ordinates and participates in various online as well as offline poetry events across Delhi. During the pandemic, she started an online poetry series called 'Poetry@Home' that inspired established as well as aspiring poets to continue engaging with verse despite the trying times.
- Sanjula has actively been involved as a volunteer with Tamana, a school for children with special needs in the capital. In this capacity, she has conducted drama-therapy classes and myriad extra-curricular activities with the students.
