Sanjula Sharma is a journalist by profession and a writer by choice.
Sanjula Sharma is based in Delhi. She is a journalist by profession and a writer by choice. A postgraduate in English Literature from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Sanjula spent her formative years living on a tea plantation in Darjeeling. She studied at St Helen's Convent and graduated from Loreto College in Darjeeling, West Bengal.

Sanjula's career in print journalism took flight in 1990 with an in-house probation at The Telegraph, Kolkata. That was a pedestal for a tryst with freelancing in Delhi for national dailies like The Hindustan Times, Pioneer and Times of India. Her area of journalistic interest covers current events, art, music, culture, management matters, fashion, education, health, women's issues, travel and human-interest stories. Sanjula's travel pieces feature places and issues of interest in Egypt, Kuwait and Boston. While residing in Kuwait for two years, she freelanced for the country's leading daily, The Arab Times and also for magazines like Kuwait this Month and The Times. She was an active member of the Kuwait Writers Workshop, an international literary group in the country.

The author has worked as consultant editor for AIMA (All India Management Association), Delhi. She composed articles, edited and designed for their in-house magazine, AIMA News, which enjoys a nationwide circulation in the management arena. She has edited a book on small and medium scale industries for the organization and also written monographs for its flagship events.

Sanjula enjoyed a brief stint in TV journalism when she worked as scriptwriter and program controller for popular programs like Khoobsurat, Maansi and El Look. The author has recently written the script for a feature film in collaboration with M5 Entertainment, a dynamic media company in Delhi.

Sanjula works as a volunteer at Tamana, a school for children with special needs. She focuses on drama and music therapy and also believes in involving mainstream children in some of the school activities. She is a member of the I.W.P.C. (Indian Women's Press Corps) and is on the management committee of the Poetry Society of India. Along with some fellow writers, she conducts interactive Writers Meets in Delhi for aspiring as well as established poets and authors. She also organizes and reads at various poetry events at the India International Centre, Delnet, IHC, Delhi University and various embassies in the capital. The writer has published her work in various magazines and journals like Femina, Kuwait This Month, Journal of the Poetry Society (India), Seventh Quarry (Indian Edition), Anthology of Indian Poets, Contemporary Vibes etc.

Sanjula has recently launched a module of creative writing workshops called HAPPY MINDS in Delhi. These workshops are designed to enhance and nurture artistic and creative talent in children. They are held regularly at the Indian Habitat Centre, Delnet, British Council, Pathways School in Noida and Epicentre, Gurgaon.

Sanjula's passion is creative writing that translates into poems and short stories. Her first collection of poetry, Poems was published in 1992. The Cameo Sheaves is a book of short stories that has an Indian urban backdrop but deals with themes that interest a global readership. To Be Mortal, her second collection of poems, was released in November 2009 at the India International Centre, Delhi. Some of her poems from this collection have been made into video clips. The Temple, which focuses on her spiritual vision, was released on Kindle in 2014. Sanjula's new book of poetry, For Rhyme or Reason has a wide spectrum of metaphysical and other themes. Her forthcoming book features stories based in Kuwait and India.

The author lives in South Delhi with her husband and daughter. She loves reading, writing, music, travel, yoga and spending time with her family and friends. An immense drive to explore her potential and live life to the full keeps her happy!
